August was a great month for the genre of Hip Hop. With many new albums from newer artists like NLE Choppa and Da Baby headlining the way. Also, hit singles from Drake, Cardi B, and Internet Money top the charts.

Music is a way for people to mentally escape from their problems. Whether their stressed out or in a bad mood they can turn on some music and it can change how their feeling. Everybody loves at least one type of music and that’s what makes it a passion for a lot of people. Music is very important to today’s society and many overlook that. These music reviews are going to be dedicated to being a way for people to venture into new artists and songs to create an expanded taste in Hip Hop.

Now let's get into the top album of August.

NLE Choppa— Top Shotta

Best Songs:

Narrow Road (feat. Lil Baby)

Walk Em Down (feat. Roddy Richh)

Camelot

Shotta Flow 5

NLE’s new album was dropped on August 7th and includes some of his best songs to date. With features from Baby, Roddy, and Chief Keef this album was destined to be a banger. Although selling on around 36,000 album units, NLE continues to improve and it’s not long until we include him in talks of one of the top rappers in the game.

As far as singles go the Hip Hop community was blessed this August. With releases from Drake, The Weeknd, Juice Wrld, and Cardi B.

Smile — Juice Wrld & The Weeknd

With the recent passing of the artist Juice Wrld the Hip Hop community has been waiting for his posthumous music to be released. To follow up on his album ‘Legends Never Die’, he teamed up with The Weeknd to deliver a sad and depressing song about love. This was a duo that the community has been hoping for, for a long time. Both of the skillsets of these artists are based around emo Rap and RnB. This song top the charts but since then slid down but was a very memorable song and sad tribute to Juice.

Laugh Now Cry Later — Drake (feat. Lil Durk)

With Drake teasing his new album ‘Certified Lover Boy’, the community expected a new single potentially coming soon from one of the best in the game. Drake definitely delivered on this track and many viewed it as the song of the summer. Durk’s feature was also amazing with people requesting that his verse would be longer. When Drake drops its hard for him to miss and even added a new music video with this song. The music video feature NBA superstar Kevin Durant, NFL superstar Odell Beckham Jr. and social media star ‘Druski2funny’. This was a very memorable song and is one of my favorite songs of the year so far.

WAP (feat. Megan Thee Stallion) — Cardi B

A very interesting song from Carbi and Meg that immediately charted at #1 on the billboard top 100. These 2 are at the top of the rap game for women and their popularity continues to astronomically grow. This song also has a music video featuring Kylie Jenner and Normani. There’s not much to say about this song, except for the fact that it shouldn’t be heard by children and I’m not gonna get into what WAP stands for.

Lemonade (feat. Gunna, Don Tolliver, and NAV) — Internet Money

Internet money released his new single Lemonade featuring a star-studded group of rappers such as Gunna, Don Tolliver, and NAV. This song has a beautiful beat and instrumental that puts the listener into a nice chill mood. Don Tolliver’s vocals on this track are amazing and with the addition of verses NAV and Gunna, it makes this song one of the best of the year.

If you enjoyed any of these songs or had some different songs that I should look into let me know in the comments. Please don’t hesitate to share with your friends as we continue to venture into this path of great Hip Hop music.
