This past month has been a great month for music. A lot of artists dropped new albums and explored different sounds and styles to please their audiences. Rappers like Tory Lanez dropped a new album out of nowhere and 21 Savage and Metro Boomin released a new project that has been longly anticipated. Another rapper Machine Gun Kelly released a new rock album which was different from his usual rap music.

Savage Mode II — Album

Teased in March the new 21 Savage and Metro Boomin album finally dropped. It was a sequel to ‘Savage Mode’ which was released back in 2016. Including features from Drake, Young Thug, and Lil Nudy it definitely didn’t disappoint. Also on the intros and interludes, it included Morgan Freeman. Yes, Morgan Freeman. He was used to close out some songs out and set the tone for a badass album. Metro Boomin created and produced the beats and 21 Savage delivered on them. This is their 3rd album together after their previous ‘Savage Mode’ and ‘Without Warning’. It is expected to sell over 100k first week.

Tickets To My Downfall — Album

After stirring up beef with the famous Eminem, MGK otherwise known as Machine Gun Kelly has been working on his new album. This album however strayed away from his usual rap persona and actually focuses on the rock and roll genre. This album really showed his versatility and showed that he’s more than a one-trick pony. It includes features from rappers like Trippie Redd and Ian Dior and also includes pop musicians like Halsey. Although I’m not so into rock music as a whole this album definitely surprised me and piqued my interest when I listened to it. This album also sold over 100k first week and topped off at around 130k sales.

Virgo World — Album

Lil Tecca is an artist on the rise and recently dropped his 2nd official album ‘Virgo World’. With features from popular artists like Polo G and Lil Uzi, it gave people a reason to check him out. Tecca is still trying to prove himself and his music to a lot of people. He is most known for his song ‘Ransom’ which he dropped last summer but is trying to show that he is more than a one-hit-wonder.

Daystar — Album

Tory Lanez has been in a lot of controversies as of late with claims of him shooting at artist Megan Thee Stallion. He chose to reply to these actions with a new album. In the album, he addressed a lot of what happened through his music. This project dropped out of nowhere without any type of promo. His sales may have been higher with promo but he capped out at 37k for sales on this project

Franchise — Song

Travis Scott is on top of the world when it comes to music right now. He’s been generating hit after hit and with his giant fanbase, right now he is probably a top 3 most listened to rapper. This past month he released a new song ‘Franchise’ featuring Young Thug and MIA. It has a really nice production which Travis is known for and has a nice upbeat pace. Many enjoyed this song as it might be setting the stage for a new upcoming album.

The rest of the year seems to have a lot of upcoming projects and albums. There is a lot to be excited about as a fan of some of these artists. It should round out as one of the better years for the rap genre compared to recent years. If you enjoyed this blog post leave some feedback. Tell me what songs you would want me to check out and leave opinions on these albums and songs.
