Drake or Aubrey Graham is one of the most successful artists of our generation. Over 10 projects including albums and EP’s he has had more popularity and success than anybody else to this day. Just about everybody knows who Drake is whether it’s from his great music or his time on the show Degrassi. Everyone has a song from Drake that they enjoy even if they don’t like him. Out of his hundreds of songs, I thought I would share some of my favorites that he has released over the years.

5. Too Much

With a sadder style than most of his projects, Drake has a great song here called ‘Too Much’ off of his album ‘Nothing Was The Same’. It starts out slow and hops into a fast-paced beat. One of the things I love about Drake’s music is his storytelling. Rather than having a song that repeats the same lyrics multiple times or just trying to rhyme he creates a masterpiece that tells a story. On this track for instance he talks about his come up and his problems while staying on beat and having a nice flow. Drake goes over his struggles with being poor as a kid and how he wanted his family to stay positive through tough times. Definitely, a song that some can relate to but for me, it just has such a nice beat and I love his lyricism.

4. Look What You’ve Done

Another song that tells a story is ‘Look What You’ve Done’ from the album ‘Take Care’. ‘Take Care’ is probably my favorite Drake album it has a lot of great songs that can fit all types of moods from sad to happy to excited. Drake starts this song by talking about his relationship with his aunt and how he can take care of her. He then goes on to talk about his past with her and his childhood with her. Drake then ends with a sample of a phone call message with his aunt showing that she’s not with him anymore. His aunt thanks him for his help and the times that they had together. This song is pretty sad but I enjoy the style of going back from verses to hooks. This was really a song dedicated to his aunt and how she was a big part of his life.

3. Miss Me

Drake and Lil Wayne used to be one of the better duos in the early 2010s. Unlike the other 2 songs that I just went over this song is very fast-paced and goes away from the story-telling a bit. This song is a bit of a flex about Drake’s lifestyle with all his money and fame he has accumulated. He also talks about a woman that should miss him while he’s out living his rockstar lifestyle. Wayne also fits this rich lifestyle theme with his lyrics and flow. This duo is definitely one of my favorites and I think that this is their best song together. They just fit so well together, especially on this track.

2. Headlines

Not my favorite song from Drake but in my opinion, it might be his best overall. This song is hype and he bodies the awesome beat that he is provided with. This song also fits the theme of his rich lifestyle and the fame that he has gotten over the years. It really lives up to the title ‘Headlines’ and the lyrics show off the money that he has. I feel like Drake is one of the best just because of the way that he can switch his topics in his songs. Some of his songs are like this rich are all about money and fame, but others are about his struggle and relationship problems. His versatility is one of his best factors in my opinion and I think he can really have a strong audience in every type of genre.

  1. Trophies

Trophies’ is my favorite Drake song ever. It may not be his best song or his best story but it just has that nostalgia that I love whenever I listen to it. This song really shows the success that Drake has had in his music career. Talking about his large trophy case of Grammy’s and his mansions. The beat in this song also goes crazy as incorporates a nice use of drums behind Drake’s voice. The reason this is my favorite song is just because of what it means to me. I’ve been listening to this song forever and it never gets old to me. It was always one of those songs I would listen to before a sporting event to get me in the mood.

Drake is definitely one of the best artists of all time. Some would rank him 1 and some wouldn't even put him in a top 10 list. So many of his songs climb the billboards every year and his consistency is among the best. His versatility of styles can’t be matched by anyone and he continues to create music in different ways.
