Songs I’m Listening To — September 2020

For today’s blog, I’m going to talk about some of the songs I’m listening to these days. This includes some new songs and some old songs that have caught my eye at the moment. I love to go back and listen to older albums over again just to get that feeling that it gave when it first came out.

Knock Knock — Mac Miller

The late Mac Miller was a great artist when he was still here. This song ‘Knock Knock’ is one of his best in my opinion and a great song for parties. With the upbeat flow and consistent lyrics, it’s easy for this song to get stuck in your head. I’ve been listening to a lot of Mac lately just to admire his greatness and how long he was at the top of the game. This song came out in 2010 and is still an awesome song that many still love.

Hey Ya! — Outkast

Outkast’s ‘Hey Ya!’ never gets old with its fun mixture of beat and flow switches. In my opinion, the vocals are magnificent in this song and it just gives off good vibes to put the listener into a happy mood. It’s easy to sing along to and is still decently popular to this day. This song was released in 2003 on the ‘Speakerboxxx/The Love Below’ album.

Spicy — Nas (feat. Fivio Foreign & A$AP Ferg)

It’s been a while since Nas released an album. On his new album, King’s Disease the song ‘Spicy’ caught my eye. This song includes features from Fivio Foreign and A$AP Ferg. I’m a big fan of the A$AP Mob so it was the first song I had to check out. Fivio and Nas had great verses, but I especially loved Ferg’s maybe I’m biased but I just really enjoyed his verse on this song. Great adlibs, flow, and that New York style was just that classic Ferg that I love to listen to.

Blood On My Jeans — Juice Wrld

Next up, we have ‘Blood On My Jeans’ by Juice Wrld. Although this song was leaked before it was released on the album it has really caught my attention as of late. This song has quickly become my favorite song off of his most recent posthumous album ‘Legends Never Die’. It has a sad feel to it but is actually very enjoyable that way. The best music that Juice Wrld makes is his depressing music even though as a fan I don’t want him in a depressed state. It feels like this song and his others foreshadow his death which is scary to think about.

Callin — NBA Youngboy (feat. Snoop Dogg)

Off of his new album ‘Top’, Youngboy’s song ‘Callin’ is one of my current favorites. It includes a feature from Snoop Dogg which is a rare thing to see these days. Youngboy is one of the best rappers in the game in my opinion and keeps getting better with the more music that he drops. His verse combined with Snoop’s makes this song a classic and I have it on repeat.

As time goes on my opinions on these songs may change but at the moment these are my go-to songs when I’m driving or at work. Every month I’m listening to different songs like these on repeat. I’m looking to expand my playlist so leave a comment with some songs I should check out
