With 2020 closing out I thought that it would be best to show off some of the best songs that came out this year. Great albums from Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and Pop Smoke there were plenty of awesome songs for people to listen to. It was a much better year of music than compared to last year even though in the actual world it has been pretty bad. The music this year has been one of the few positives of 2020 and has given people an escape from things like Covid-19 and politics.

Tyler Herro — Jack Harlow

Jack Harlow is one of the new up-and-coming artists of this era. His song ‘What’s Poppin’ really put him on the map. Other than that song Harlow really hasn’t had any other success in his music. Although recently he released his new single ‘Tyler Herro’, this song featured a music video with NBA player Tyler Herro. It showed off his versatility and that he’s not just a one-hit-wonder. I really enjoyed this track and am excited for what else Jack Harlow has to offer.

Mood Swings — Pop Smoke (feat. Lil Tjay)

Back in July Pop Smoke’s posthumous album ‘Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon’ was released. This album included many great songs and some really awesome features but ‘Mood Swings’ with Lil Tjay really stood out. As a person that doesn’t listen to a lot of Lil Tjay, for what it’s worth I really enjoyed his feature. I thought that it was really good and made me listen to some of his other music. This song really took off on the Social Media app ‘Tik Tok’ which was where it gained a lot of its popularity.

All Bad — Future (feat. Lil Uzi Vert)

One of my favorite songs this year comes from Pluto and Baby Pluto. Future also had a great album this year with his ‘High Off Life’ and had a really underrated year overall. ‘All Bad’ was definitely one of my favorite songs from this album and I have listened to it a lot since it has come out. I’m not a really big Future fan but this album and song made me appreciate him more.

Prices — Lil Uzi Vert

Uzi released one of the most anticipated albums of the year with Eternal Atake. This album only contained a single feature but had some really good solo songs. One of these songs in this album was ‘Prices’. It was a really good song with the beat sampled from the song ‘way back’ from Travis Scott. That beat felt so futuristic and it became one of my favorite songs the second that I heard it.

Laugh Now Cry Later — Drake (feat. Lil Durk)

Out of all these songs, this one was probably my favorite. Drake is one of the most popular artists not only in the hip hop genre but in the entire world. His song ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ was the song of the summer and topped the charts as soon as it was released. Lil Durk also made an appearance on this track which many people deemed as too short. I agree with this and think that the song would be even better with a longer Durk verse. This song also got many fans excited for Drake’s new upcoming album.

There were a lot of great songs this year but I feel like these were the most impactful and overall the best of the best. This list included some of the classic stars of today’s rap game and also some new upcoming artists too. I’m am really excited about what 2021 has to offer music-wise and I think it can be almost as good as 2020 was. If you enjoyed this blog post, leave a comment, and share some of your favorite songs from 2020.
