Underrated Artists in Today’s Rap Game

With the genre of rap being one of the most popular in the world, there are many household names and some unknown ones. Guys like Drake and Travis Scott are known by everybody and some rappers just don’t get the credit that they deserve. Some artists are just waiting to get their chance and some have been working for years behind the spotlights.

Quando Rondo

Tyquian Bowman otherwise known as Quando Rondo is a 21-year-old artist from Savannah, Georgia. Some of his better-known songs are ‘ABG’ and ‘Bad Vibe’ featuring A Boogie and 2 Chainz. In my opinion, Quando is one of the most disrespected artists today. His most recent projects haven’t sold a lot and most people don’t refer to him as good but I think that he has a lot of talent. I think that he has a really good voice and some of my favorite songs from him are his features on ‘Permanent Scar’ and ‘I Am Who They Say I Am’. I don’t think that Quando Rondo will ever get the respect that I think he should have even with how young he is.

Don Toliver

One of my favorite artists today is Don Toliver. When Travis Scott released his album Astroworld Don’s feature on ‘Can’t Say’ really caught my attention. The vocals that he sings with are the best in the game in my opinion and I feel like he has a lot of potential. He recently released an album and it did pretty well but I still feel like he should be at the top of the conversation when people talk about the best. Some of my favorite songs from Don T. are ‘Recap’ and ‘Had Enough’. I think that Don is close to being one of the most popular artists today. If he with Travis Scott I have no doubt that he will blow up even more than he already has.

Pusha T

Pusha T is definitely one of the most underappreciated artists of this generation. He doesn’t get a lot of listens although I think that his music is really good. I feel like his most recent album ‘Daytona’ was really good and should have done better in sales. When he dropped ‘The Story of Adidon’ diss track on Drake it was a really big deal. It revealed that Drake had a son that he had been hiding and since then Adonis who is Drake’s son has been back in Drake’s life. Whether a fan of Pusha T or not this was one of the most brutal diss tracks I have ever heard and changed a lot of people’s views of Drake. Push is old and at this point won’t get the listens that he used to but I feel like he is still getting better and should be in that conversation for some of the best to ever do it.

Denzel Curry

Denzel is also very underappreciated and has bars. Since his album ‘TA13OO’ he has really been on fire with everything he has dropped. Denzel puts his everything into every track he makes and is definitely one of the best lyricists today. I feel like Denzel doesn’t get the credit that he deserves because of his type of rap. Some rappers have a more singing style and that works for them and gets them streams and sales. Whereas Denzel Curry has a more hype flow and really gives his lyrics meaning. When he creates an album he sticks to a theme and all of the songs tie into his main ideas. Definitely an artist I would recommend if you are really into rap.

I feel like some of these artists will get their fame someday and others might not. I like to keep my eye out for smaller artists because I think that it’s fun to see them blow up and get their chance. There’s nothing better than seeing a small artists get their opportunity and get to that level of fame that the superstars are.
